JUN 11 - Gazos Creek Picnic Area

The turnout for the June 11th workday was not the 20+ we have become accustomed to, but still a very respectable 17 showed up on a warm day. The forecasted high for Boulder Creek was 88, but up in the park only 82 and with work in the sunnier areas completed by lunchtime the weather was manageable.

The Redwood Loop Trail is mostly completed with the exception of the area between the Mother of the Forest Tree and the meadow requiring heavy equipment,  so we worked on clearing the area around the Gazos Creek day use picnic area that is one of the sites that will be used for  parking when Big Basin reopens soon for limited visitation. The goal was to clear fire related debris to allow room for the vehicles and of course everything ended up in the usual burn piles.

All told we started and completed eight burn piles which doesn't include two piles that had to be relocated due to initial confusion over work details, so overall a very efficient workday. We even had time to hike the Redwood Loop afterwards which looked unchanged pending  final work by State crews and a fence contractor.
