Pine Mountain - Middle Section

Heading into the Trail Crew's Feb. 7th workday and the final stretch of trail below Pine Mtn Fire Rd, everyone was ready to make the jump to the next section but there were varying thoughts on whether it was a one day job. Or more than one day.

The previous workday had completed most of the work immediately below the fire road, so the only section remaining was a little further down the hill. The work included a little bit of everything, from expanding several burn piles and felling hazard trees, to cutting back trail edge vegetation and removing debris left on the trail during previous workdays.

With a crew of 26 we had the big turnout we had hoped for and we came close to finishing, but not quite! The major work is complete, but there is probably another 2-3 hours of detail work left for next time.

So we should be able to make the move to the new section of trail next workday. But wind and rain are forecasted to move through the park area several days beforehand, so we'll see if we encounter storm cleanup work as well.

Thje crew put in 191 hours and thanks to Fremont Bainbrdige, Aiden Bowers, Jeff Bowers, Jim Brooks, Rory Brooks, Karen Cheeniyil, Santhosh Cheeniyil, Dale Elliott, Talu Gonzalez, Drew Granzella, Ryan Granzella, Max Green, Mimi Guiney, Tommy Ha,  Andrea Lee, Janie Leifhelm, John Martin, Mike Peasland, Sam Spinner,  Gina Valderrama, Eric Voelkel, Kris Kiefer-Woolery, Chris Young, Daniel Zichuhr, and newcomers Andrew Sanchez and Vincent Sanchez, for getting us almost there!
