Spring is always a season of transition, with one foot edging towards summer while the other is still firmly planted in winter. After the April 22nd workday in the mid-80's that we were definitely not ready for, our May 6th outing was much more suited to trail work with the Saddle Mtn weather station topping out at perfect 60 degree conditions.
Most of the crew did the usual work of reclaiming the trail corridor from the post-fire regrowth and moving everything into burn piles (Yellow is the current work area on Creeping Forest).
The sawyers moved ahead to drop safety hazard trees that will be the starting point for our next workday. All told we completed six burn piles while the sawyers reported they felled 'about' 10 trees.
While most of the crew spent the day on the trail, Rory and D2 stayed back at our Jay Camp meeting area to complete the refurbishing work on our new tool storage area which we're referring to as the tool 'stall' in recognition of its prior life as a restroom and shower area.
It was perfect weather for trail work with a crew of 26. The crew put in 215 hours and thanks to Fremont Bainbridge, Daryn Bieri, Nan Bowman, Alison Breeze, Jim Brooks, Rory Brooks, Julie Charles, John Collins, Denis DeCeuster, Michele Gelblum, Peter Gelblum, Tommy Ha, Matt Kelsey, Andrea Lee, Janie Leifhelm, Deepak Mahudeswaran, Reece McDaniel, Mike Peasland, Diane Shaw, Devdutt Sheth, Dale Stadelman, Bruce Washburn, Chris Young, and newcomers Maddie Dawson, Josh Dillen, and Jim Lambert for the help.
